What is Slow Food?

In other words, the Slow Food established links between the dish at our table with the planet, politics and culture. It began in Italy in 1980, and today has the participation of over 150 countries, including Brazil, attracting the interest of millions of people.

The name comes from the Slow Food refusal to rushed lifestyle and snapshot of modern life, to processed food and mass market. Says a kind of balanced life, where there is time to enjoy the simple, everyday things, starting with the meals on a daily basis, in the kitchen or dining table.

Slow Food has more than 850 branches, or convivia in the world. Each creates relationships with local producers, organizes campaigns for the preservation of the typical food of the region, organizes tastings and seminars, encourage chefs to seek their sources on site, choose producers to participate in international events and fight for taste education at Schools.

The Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity is a nonprofit organization that organizes and sponsors Biodiversity projects in agriculture, in addition to preserving the culinary traditions. Its main projects are the Terra Madre, Ark of Taste and presided.
